Presentation Night 2008
The presentation night was enjoyed by all who attended.A big thank you to Yvonne Edwards for shorting out tickets and to the staff at the Rustic Arms for there service throught the night.
Liam Holdsworth recieved the Junior Track & Field Athlete of the Year award for 2007.Through the year Liam won 3 medals in the West Yorkshire Track & Field Championships,2 silver and 1 bronze.He also won a silver medal in the Yorkshire Combined Events Championships.During the year,Liam set a new club record in the high jump,a leap of 1.60 metres which stands for U15 Boys,U17 Men,U20 Men and Senior Men.
Joel Dibb recieved the awrad for Most Improved Athlete of the Year for 2007.During the year Dibb set 4 new club records in the U15 Boys 100m,200m,Long Jump and Triple Jump.His 100m time of 12.5 was also a club record for U17 Men,U20 Men and Senior Men.
Ross Blackburn retained the Cyril Jones Athlete of the Year which he won in 2006.This trophy is awarded to the clubs best all round athlete across all 3 disciplines of road running,track & field and cross country.Ross set 5 new club records last year in the U20 Mens category.These were 400m,1500m,long jump,tiple jump and discus.His performances in the 1500m and discus were good enough for the Senior Mens records aswell.Ross also recieved the June Bell Memorial Shield for being Senior Tack & Field Athlete of the Year 2007.In the West Yorkshire Track & Field League he won the bronze medal for finishing the season as 3rd in the overall points standing in the junior/senior mens age category.
Linda Harris recieved the Founders Trophy for finishing top of the Star Ranking in 2007.The system is devised by England Athletics,athletes recieve points for there best 10k,10 mile and half marathon during the year.Points are calculated in accordance with the athletes age and gender.Any athlete with a rank of 8.00 is regarded as elite,Linda had a average of 7.42 for the 3 events.
Christine McCarthy recieved the Founders Runner-Up trophy after finishing the year with a rank of 7.05
Paul Smith was the winner of the clubs Grand Prix Division 1 and recieved the Ryder Thorpe Memorial Shield.Karen Ball won the Ladies Division for the 5th successive year,Martyn Stearn was winner of Division 2 and Chris Taylor was winner of Division 3.
Andrew Jackson and Faye Banks were the winners of the Mike Eaton Marathon Memorial Trophies for the best performances in the London Mararthon.Andrew clocked 2-34-31 and Faye set a new club record of 2-56-34.
